About Me

A few things about me….

• I’m a full time working mom with two kids. I work a corporate job from 9 – 5 and am constantly trying to learn the ‘balance’ of working outside of the home while raising young kids. I feel guilt when I go to work, but also feel fulfilled and love getting to do what I do.
• My kids are currently in school and daycare – they are THRIVING. We made a switch in the last year and are so happy with our decision. Always pros and cons to each situation, but we are loving the school that our kids are in right now (and they do too!).
• My family and I live in Illinois. We are in the Chicago suburbs. YES it’s cold and snowy and dark in the winter, but we like to say we earn our summers here because they are beautiful.
• An ideal day for me would be spending time with my family and friends, ideally enjoying nice weather outside and eating really great food. We love to go to the zoo, parks, farmers markets – anything where our kids can burn some energy while we are enjoying a coffee or a craft beer and we are in!
• Before we had kids, my husband and I lived in Chicago. We loved living in Lakeview and miss our old neighborhoods and routines. That phase of our life was a great one and we will always consider moving back downtown once our kids are older and out of the house.
• I am not picky when it comes to food. Fancy steakhouse dinner? Sure. Leftovers from last night? Amazing. A simple cold cut sandwich or hot dog with chips? Great. I’m easy to please if you are offering me food!
• I usually cook dinner for our family Monday – Thursday throughout the week. It is so fun for me to plan our meals the week before, prep the grocery list and bring something to life for the family. It saves money, exposes our kids to a different variety of foods, and also gives me joy to make a meal from scratch.

About Casual Family Finds

Not everything needs to be over the top and perfectly curated. My home, approach to motherhood and personal style are centered around simplicity. I want to create a space where I can share my finds that could be helpful to others who are seeking the same. To be honest, I frequently find myself in that state of overwhelm by seeing all of these perfectly decorated, aesthetically pleasing homes from influencers online. I love that for them – but that’s just not my reality. I’m running from daycare drop off to speech therapy to a kids doctors appointment to my 9-5… we are lucky if we make it out the door on time with matching socks and warm coffee.

You will notice that this account isn’t overflowing with personal photos of myself or my kids. That’s intentional. The content I plan to share is centered around products in my life that have helped me. Personal privacy, and the safety of my kids, is the most important thing to me. While I may share little things here and there, you will mostly get thoughts, words and great finds from this account.
